Ivory: sculpture

Description

One creamy-white elongated carved ivory male figure posed on a short base openwork carved and pierced on the front surface with botanical patterns. Figure is depicted bearded and dressed in long flowing robes bearing a bamboo tube in its right hand and an orb-shaped fruit between the thumb and index finger of its left hand. Rear surface of figure is less detailed presenting an oval-shaped label with Chinese characters. Iconography consistent with Daoist Immortal Zhang Guolao.
