Bottle: snuff

One frosted glass snuff bottle. A short wide neck with an inner cone tapering to a narrow opening surmounts a flattened spade-shaped body turning inwards towards an oval-shaped base. A moulded lip defines boundary between shoulders and lower body. Interior presents continuous painted scene of figures in a landscape. Shoulder sections of each face exhibit Chinese inscriptions 百子圖 京師薛少甫 (Picture of Hundred Children by Xue Shaofu from Peking) and 於甲子仲春月 (in the spring of the sixty year cycle of Jia Zi beginning 1864 AD).
