Bottle: snuff

Description

One crackle glazed rose pink ceramic snuff bottle. A short narrow neck flaring out to a beaded rim surmounts an elongated rounded rectangular body with high shoulders tapering towards an out-turned circular base. Plain white hemispherical stopper and red-brown collar.

Provenance

Gifted to Canterbury Museum by Alley in 1937 during a visit to New Zealand. In 1956, loaned to the Rewi Alley Chinese Art and Crafts Exhibition, held at the Provincial Council Chambers, Christchurch.
