Description

One earthenware model of a granary in the form of an elongated tapered pillbox sitting on three stubby feet and surmounted by the remains of a flared roof. Sides of object exhibit remains of green-grey glaze. One side presents a vertical slot.

Rewi Alley

Provenance

Given by Alley to Owen Jackson (1919-?) of Friends' Ambulance Unit in China (1945-1947) in 1946 to present to Canterbury Museum. Discovered in a tomb at Wuwei, Gansu. In 1956, loaned to the Rewi Alley Chinese Art and Crafts Exhibition, held at the Provincial Council Chambers, Christchurch.
