Description
One circular glazed grey-green ceramic vase with a short narrow neck and out-turned lip surmounting broad high shoulders that taper gradually to a slightly out-flaring base. Upper shoulders of vase exterior exhibit a ruyi or fungus pattern with black and white linear embellishments. Mid-section of vase exterior presents a broad band of serpentine botanical decoration in white outline. Lower part of vase exterior presents a semi-geometric freize again with black and white linear embellishments.
Provenance
Bought by Alley in Beijing, and in 1957 given to poet R.A.K. Mason (1905-1971) to carry to Canterbury Museum.
