Description
One semi-circular unglazed light tan earthenware tile. Obverse presents moulded motifs in the form of a central tree flanked by two stylised figures mounted on horseback.
Provenance
Gifted to Canterbury Museum by Alley in 1937 during a visit to New Zealand. Acquired by Alley at Qingzhou, Shandong Province. Loaned to the Rewi Alley Chinese Art and Crafts Exhibition, held at the Provincial Council Chambers, Christchurch, in 1956.
