Writing tool: ink stick and case

Description

One black ink stick in the form of a flattened rectangular slab. Contained in a case lined with pink satin. Ink stick is broken into several pieces. Exterior faces embellished with continuous stamped design of plants and insects. One broad face presents three gold Chinese characters 螽斯羽 (Zhong Si Yu or 'ye locusts winged tribes'). One narrow face presents five stamped Chinese characters 式好堂珍藏 (treasured and collected by the hall of Shi Hao). Print tabs are attached to each end of the ink stick. The upper tab reads 屯溪市徽州胡開文墨廠 (Tunxi city Huizhou suburb Hu Kaiwen Ink Factory); lower tab reads 143 淨煙墨 (143 pure black soot ink).
