Bronze: mirror
Description
One circular bronze mirror. Exhibits green patina. Reverse presents moulded central stub surrounded by concentric rings with moulded patterns in shallow relief. Innermost ring presents twelve circles arranged in four groups of three. Penultimate ring presents Chinese characters written in clerical script: xxxx而光而象xxxx而去而日而月xxx.

Provenance
Carried to New Zealand in 1948 by A.E. Lorimer, who worked in China with the Y.W.C.A. In 1956, loaned to the Rewi Alley Chinese Art and Crafts Exhibition, held at the Provincial Council Chambers, Christchurch.
