Provenance

Gifted to Canterbury Museum by Alley on a visit to New Zealand in 1937. In 1949, loaned for exhibition to the poet William Hart-Smith (1911-1990), who worked in adult education in South Canterbury. Loaned to Margaret Garland (1903-1998) for an exhibition of Chinese art at The Architectural Centre Gallery, Wellington, and Auckland Art Gallery, in 1954.
