Description
One frosted glass snuff bottle. A short wide neck with an inner cone tapering to a narrow opening surmounts a flattened rounded rectangular body tapering towards an oval-shaped base. Interior face presents a painted scene of figures in garden landscape. On one face shoulders exhibit characters 漁樵耕讀 京師薛少甫 (fisherman woodman farmer and scholar by Xue Shaofu from Beijing).

One of a consignment carried to New Zealand in 1957 by George Jackson of Auckland, and from Auckland to Christchurch by Jack Locke, including 22 snuff bottles.
