Description

One glazed sancai ware figure of a camel standing on a shallow rectangular unglazed base. Camel bears saddle bags moulded in the form of fearsome masks. Dominant glaze colours are brown white green-ochre and blue.

Provenance

This facsimilie, made from original Tang Dynasty moulds, was delivered to Canterbury Museum in 1975 by Prof. Henry Field (1903-1991) of the University of Canterbury. Alley obtained it from Ministry of Culture potters at Luoyang, Henan.
