The Chinese characters written on one side are in "Bronzeware Script", and to be more specific, they were a copy of "Stone Drum with Poetry" 石鼓文. The stone drums were discovered at Tianxing in Shaanxi Province in the early Tang dynasty; the ten stone drums are incised with four-character poems in seal script (zhuan shu) that describe activities such as fishing, hunting, and warfare.
