The camel is brown, with brown and green saddle bags that are moulded in the shape of demon faces, bearing silk bales. There are two curved, rectangular iron blue plates tied to each side of the saddle, with a circular white design at each end. Inside the saddle are two white objects. Figure depicted grinning jovially with upper teeth visible through open mouth. Figure nestles drum under its left arm supporting this on bent left knee. Drummer's right arm and right leg are extended and the right hand presents a small hole. Traces of blue grey mauve and red pigmentation visible on figure's body and drum. Globular body tapers towards a flat base and extends into a long neck flaring slightly at the top. Series of incised transverse lines around neck shoulder and waist. Shoulder patterns link two animal heads moulded in shallow relief on opposing sides of vessel. Animal heads feature prominent nose rings. Sievwright, who carried it from Shandan to Canterbury Museum. In 1947, Sievwright, from Tekapo, travelled to Shandan with 25 Corriedale sheep, gifted to the Shandan Bailie School by New Zealand farmers.
